There are plenty of factor to decide whether you go for pre-finished or un-finished flooring.
You have to consider factors carefully and take a firm decision. It is difficult to change the process after initiated.
-Pre-finished wood means less labor cost and installation time. If you want to get the work done quickly, you should go for Pre-finished flooring.
- If you have children that you don’t want exposed to fumes and other installation hazards, you have to select pre-finished flooring.
-Generally pre-finished wood floor outputs more durable finish. So it can be used for high traffic areas like kitchen, living room. Also remember that if you are installing your hardwood flooring below ground level you can consider using pre-finished engineered wood flooring. It can increase the durability at a higher rate.
-If you are using hardwood flooring throughout the home you can use un-finished flooring to give uniform color to the floor.
-Un-finished flooring can also be used to match existing hardwood flooring.

There are a number of issues to think about when trying to decide on prefinished vs unfinished. The length of time you have for your project. Are you trying to get an exact match to something in your home already. I would suggest calling a wood flooring professional for an estimate to learn as much as you can.
